Starbucks is losing me as a customer

I guess it is now time to pay attention to what i am drinking everyday. Making coffee is a profession and something people can do to earn a living. So why did i buy a coffee machine?
  • I drink coffee every few hours during the day everyday, so i need to learn making a good cup of coffee.
  • Coffee is getting more and more expensive outside.
  • I have too much time to waste need a new hobby.

Reading 'How to make a cup of cappuccino' articles online is really confusing. There are so many variations, methods and theories. They made it so difficult just to make a cup of coffee. Hey, i just bought a coffee machine. I am so excited, i just can't wait to jump right in and pull a shot.

For now, I only need to know 'One-third espresso, One-third steamed milk, and One-third foam' and that is cappuccino. Action time!

The milk and the coffee powder i used.

Amount of coffee decides how many shots of espresso.

Coffee powder firmly pressed.

Brewing a shot of espresso.

Here comes the fun part. Frothing the milk. 'Place the tip of the steam wand just below the milk surface... bla bla bla...' Ok, let's do it.

It was so fun to see myself frothing milk for the first time.

Not knowing what to expect, soon my milk doubled in volume!

Then comes the pouring. This is where the coffee art takes place. Seriously, skill is needed here. Anyway, i dun need to score high marks to pass. It is MY cup of coffee.

Mussels for dinner!

Yes, we were having mussels for dinner that day. No we didn't pay for it but we had earned it! It was a
weird brilliant idea when Debbie said,"Let's go catch mussels!" (you serious??)

At first, i thought that phrase 'catch mussels' was funny. As if mussel can swim around, and you need to catch them. Later, i found it is a different 'catch' meaning altogether. Ok, at least i don't need to get wet.

I went along and see how they did it. I wanted to help, but i was busy taking pictures... hehe... Well, picking up the mussels from the river bank is not a very pretty sight. So i chose to stay with my camera.

A great mussel cookout, like what Denise said because everyone was doing their part in the kitchen. My contribution? Cleaning their shells. Yuck! Scrubbing off barnacles, seaweeds and other living marine organisms. Eeeewwww....

We had one hell of a good source of zinc and folate that day!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S in Melbourne

I reached Melbourne on its Labour Day, 9th March 2009. Once there, we had a BBQ at Docklands. My journey there with Air Asia X's flight keeps me craving for my cup of coffee. Yes, everyone is right, you can't recline your seats. Awwww... man...

I got a window seat. Throughout the flight, i kept shifting my sitting position so i can sleep. Put my legs to the right, put my legs to the left, rest my head on to the porthole frame, rest my head on the LCD screen... and i was so awake i think i can hear myself snore!

Just for fun, i made a renowned 'F.r.i.e.n.d.s' poster. It is one of the most popular sitcoms of its time.

"I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour.
I'll be there for you, like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you, cause you're there for me too.."
