This photo makes me laugh the whole week

As you can see from this picture, we already ran out of ideas on how to pose for a group shot. Just for fun, testing 2 speedlights, one from the left and the other on the right. Photo courtesy of Andrew's Photography, that's the guy on the extreme right. And hey, andrew, what's with the night scene on the background? It is suppose to be black!

Birthday Greeting for someone very far away... :(

Trying out all sorts of photography lets you appreciate all your money spent on your gears. Hmmm, this one is in the category of 'light painting'. It looks fun and easy at first sight. But in actual fact, it is real difficult!

To have a confident and steady hand is one thing, then you will need to remember the position where you have 'painted' with your flash light. Those words, characters, designs or patterns that you are creating, need to be in mirror image, unless you wanna flip them all horizontally in photoshop later. All the graceful swinging of flash light comes with practice. Awww man, i hate the word 'practice'.

All in all, it is a fun thing to play with, when you are running out of ideas on what to do on someone's birthday. Get hold of your friends or families to work with you. So in this clip, i asked my little sister to help me along. That night, we had great fun criticizing each others mistakes!!!

So here it is, Happy Birthday to you, Hanhan. Now i can write 'happy birthday' in chinese without having to think. Not only that, i can even write them in mirror image! Hahaha... i will brag more about it when we talk on the phone, okay? hehehe...

How to change a flat tyre

Oh, no 'tayar pancit'! I got a flat tyre! What am i gonna do? I am in the middle of nowhere!

Keep calm , stay calm and inform your friends or families that you have got a flat tyre. Let them know your whereabouts and tell them not to worry. Nowadays, it is very easy to get roadside assistance almost immediately. They are everywhere. Worst case scenario, you might need to do it yourself.

Assemble your emergency warning reflective triangle.

Place your emergency warning reflective triangle about 5 meters away behind your car, as recommended in the Malaysian JPJ learner driver handbook.

Get into your dirty clothes or your special car mechanic's overall. It is a good idea to bring them along in the car.

Take note here, if you can handle the flat tyre all by yourself, do not accept any help from any passerby. Including unknown tow truck driver, roadside assistance guys wannabe, cunning wolf foreman, cute hunks or some guys who just wanna show off. Avoid people who you do not trust.

But of course, if she is your mom, don't chase her away.

Locate your spare tyre and the special tools. Refer to your car user's manual. Please put the manuals in the car, you will find them handy.

Get all your special tools out and lay them out on your car's rubber mat. Get organized!

Pry open the rim cover with the special tool provided. Be careful not to damage the cover.

Try not to wear slippers or sandals while doing this. You might hurt yourself.

It is always a good idea to have a pair of old shoes in your car. Use 'em for jobs like this. Loosening the nuts this way may not be recommended in your car user's manual. But sometimes you have no choice. The nuts are going to be very tight, so please be careful here. Do this at your own risk. Kids, do this at home when your parents aren't at home.

Position yourself in such a way that you will not slip or fall during the loosening of the nuts. At this point, just loosen the nuts but do not remove them.

This is one important step. Find out from your car user's manual where the jacking point is.

Jack up the car, jack it, jack it, jack it up... until the tyre is suspended off the ground. Be sure that the jack is still vertically straight.

Loosen and remove all the 4 nuts.

Pull out the tyre. Find out how heavy your is car tyre. This is to avoid you saying, "It's too heavy, i can't take it out! I give up!".

Remove the 'flat tyre' and keep it in the boot.

Roll in the spare tyre!

Put on all the nuts and then tighten them.

Cross tight the nuts, tighten them diagonally and repeat a few times. For now, just tighten them evenly and hand tight only with the socket wrench.

Lower and remove the car jack.

Now tighten the nuts all the way. Again, tighten them diagonally, evenly and repeat.

There you go, drive safely now. Go find the nearest car workshop! Drive at a reduced speed now as stated in the car user's manual, if applicable. Because some spare tyres are made smaller than the normal tyres. These are the temporary spare tyre.

A few more points to remember:
- Avoid changing a flat tyre on a slope.
- For manual transmission, gear must be engaged in 1st or reverse.
- For automatic transmission, put to 'P'.
- Chock one tyre, on the opposite end of the flat tyre, to prevent the car from moving.
- If your spare tyre is smaller than the normal tyres, please check if it is meant for the front or rear tyres.
- Place the spare tyre under the vehicle body at a point near the tyre to be changed. A precautionary measure to avoid danger in the event that the jack is detached.

My friend's son, Jet

Yes, Jet is the name. This cute little guy had his first birthday celebration, earlier this month.

One thing we all learned for sure that night, oh yeah, milk bottles!! Bubble free bottle system nipples, heard of that before? Haha, not me. I remember i used to like that continuous bubbling sound that comes from my milk bottle. The sound that labeled as food. The louder it is, the more milk i am getting. Sometimes when i was really hungry, i drank so fast and the bubbles still kept appearring after i had stop sucking. For my viewing pleasure, i can actually see bubbles going upwards on the top of my bottle, just like an ant trail. See all the fun they have taken away now?

Happy Birthday Jet. Keng Boon, nice name for your son. I should name mine Helicopter, Ship or Sportscar, in future!

Too cool, too cute

Admit it, many people now still wanna be young and cute. And they always wanted to have pictures taken this way, hehe... i know, trust me. It is one of the most enjoyable friends get-together.

Pictures taking session with friends is easy and fun. They can put up their best look without being afraid of the camera or the person taking the photographs. We got our ideas from The Dog Collection posters, the doggies there are cute. So are we, too cool, too cute!

I am six months old and I believe beer is better than milk!

Kei and Wiebke shared their first baby child experience with us. Their baby boy named Jonas, pronounce as 'yo-nas'. The pictures were so funny and certainly made our day!

Which is bigger? Me or the cow?

Milk is bad for me :(

Hey, dad, gimme some beer or you'll lose your finger!

To Wiebke and Kei, great job, Jonas is so cute, wish you well and congratulations!

In search for the shape that represents my love

While i still enjoy making my cup of coffee, i managed to compile some of my favourite latte art. I believe now is the best time to make your own coffee at home because a few companies i know, has already cut down on their free coffee and milk supply for their employees. Which, to some people, who cannot wake up in the morning without coffee, are going to scream their heads off.

I can still remember frothing milk for the first few times when min han is by my side. She is the one who taught me how. Finish off with a heart shaped milk foam and that's another way of saying,"I love you".

My 29th Birthday

When your pictures are not that good and to avoid keeping them in your photo archive buried forever, make a short video out of them. To be accurate, it is called stop-motion photography. But in order to do that, you have to shoot lots of pictures. Lots and lots of them.

So I turn my 'not so good birthday pictures' into a short video. It is a simple get together dinner at home with home cooked Nasi Lemak. That is all i asked for.

Thank you Denise, Debbie, Roger, Ah Ling, Ah Bor and Florence darling. Now enjoy the video.

How to sew a bow tie on the fly

Bow ties are really difficult to find and there are expensive. Sometimes you cannot get the colour, material or the pattern that you want. So i decided to sew one myself. This is my first sewing project and i finally understand how a sewing machine works.

Make a template using a cardboard.

Draw the outline on the fabric that you are going to use. Do it on the 'wrong side' of the fabric.

Place 2 pieces of fabric with the 'right side' facing each other. Here, i use masking tape to hold them together. I am not good in using pins.

Make a duplicate.

Sew them together along the line using a sewing machine.

Cut out the edges leaving about 5mm gap from the sewing seam.

Turn them inside out. I use a knitting needle to push the end out.

Once it is done, they look like this, fluffy... dun worry, we will get rid of it.

Iron them and adjust its corner nicely, to reveal the bow tie shape.

Measure your own neck collar size. Here in this step, you will need to know to tie a bow tie in order for you to know how much length is required.

Cut and put one end into the other end. Sew them together by hand.

My very own bow tie.

Voila. I made it without using any interfacing. But my bow tie still look as good. It took me about 2 hours to make.

Spending time with IKEA furniture

We bought some furniture from IKEA. Assembling them wasn't difficult but time consuming. You need very strong hands or power tools to screw in the screws. Otherwise, you will take forever to screw them in.

It is a fun activity to do at home. Don't you think so?

My latte art

Check out the designs i have created with my Breville ESP4 Bar Italia Espresso Machine! It may not be the ultimate coffee machine that everyone wants but it can make me a nice cup of coffee without much hassle. This makes my day!

All i need is practice, practice and practice. For every design that i had made, i can't repeat the same design again. There are all experiments and accidents. That's a newbie talking... haha...
